A changing of the guard is the theme these days in Los Angeles.  Gone are the veteran King's teams that include the Sundin's, Marchant's, Jagr's, Straka's, Lidstrom's, and even Palffy's.  Replaced with young, budding talent to help lead the Kings in the present and beyond. Such is life in the salary cap world.   Players like defensemen Keith Yandle and Roman Polak and a core of forwards that include youngsters Joe Pavelski, Mason Raymond, Jiri Hudler, Peter Regin, Martin Hanzal, Troy Brouwer, Ville Leino, Ted Purcell, and Marcel Goc round out a young nucleus of talent.  Add to those promising players some savvy veterans such as long time Kings defensemen Tom Poti, winger Patrik Elias, and a stalwart in net in Luongo, the Kings have a nice mix of talent that is sure to challenge .

The Kings were pleased to add via free agency two time cup winning defensemen Jaroslav Spacek to the team.  "Any time you can add a player of Spacek's caliber and experience to the fold, you try to make it happen.  The things he can teach our younger players and the experiences he's had over his career will help mold our young players.  A guy with his kind of character doesn't come along too often and we were thrilled to add him. " said GM Nathan Kopsack
The Kings weren't done as they added dependable veteran defensemen Karlis Skrastins to a one year deal.  "Karlis is guy that gives us tremendous depth at that position, something we thought we lacked at the start of free agency. " said GM Kopsack.  "He will fit in nicely for us."
